SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – October 24, 2019 – The Warrior’s Journey invites the public to Highland Springs Country Club, 5400 S Highland Springs Blvd, Springfield, MO for the opening ceremony for their 2nd Annual Golf Classic on October 28, 2019 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The event will kick off with entertainment from the Dan Boever Golf Show at 9:30 a.m. followed by a formal ceremony at 10:00 a.m. featuring the Missouri State University Army ROTC Color Guard. The presentation will honor area veterans who served in multiple war eras and Gold Star families. “The opening ceremony is a rare opportunity for Springfield area community members to interact with and have meaningful conversation with area Veterans who have served and fought to defend our freedom,” Kevin Weaver, CEO explained.
In addition to the Presentation of Colors, Recording Artist Phil Stacey will sing the National Anthem. The Warrior’s Journey has also scheduled a special presentation for guests.
“Barring inclement weather, we have planned an exceptional surprise for guests,” said Chad Yates, Development Director. “As well as hosting The Warrior’s Journey Golf Classic as a golf benefit, we especially planned the ceremony to adequately honor and bring awareness for all who have served.”
The Warrior’s Journey Golf Classic plans to host 28 teams and over 100 players at their 2nd annual event which has doubled in size since the 2018 inaugural golf tournament.
The proceeds from the event will benefit recipients of resources from The Warrior’s Journey and their partner organization Tee It Up for the Troops. In 2018, the event raised over $28,000. They hope to raise an additional $72,000 in 2019.
