The Defense Language Institute (DLI) is a United States Department of Defense (DoD) educational and research institution that provides linguistic and cultural instruction to the Department of Defense and other Federal Agencies. It’s located in Monterrey, California and is host to over 22 languages with courses ranging from 24-64 weeks. With a high attrition rate and rigorous academic standards, service members are trained to be highly capable in their respective languages of study.
