They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42)
Among Christians during recent years, I have noticed two seemingly opposing trends. The first trend is to stop attending church. The rationale goes something like this: “I don’t have to go to church to be a Christian. I need more time to relax. Besides, I don’t really like spending time with people I don’t know.”
On the other side of the coin, millions of people, including many Christians, are starving for relationships and spending increasingly greater amounts of time doing social networking through Facebook, and Twitter. Still, many wonderful Christian people are feeling lonely and isolated.
God has a great answer. It’s called church. Many great things happen at church, especially toward developing solid, wholesome relationships with other people. Will church involvement take initiative and effort on your part? Yes. Are the results worth it? Speaking personally, I have met some of the finest people on the planet. Where? In chapels and churches.
