But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Genesis 50:19–20)

Has maintaining right priorities and balance been hard to do, especially relating to your family? Truthfully, trying to “do life” can get downright messy! But there is hope.

Consider a metaphor from golf. Golfers know how easy it is to hit a terrible shot, so they created a helpful device — the ‘mulligan.’ A mulligan, simply stated, is a “do-over.” Hit a bad shot? Take a mulligan and replay that stroke.

Our Scripture verse refers to the situation where Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery. Years later, his brothers stand helplessly before Joseph, the most powerful official in Egypt. Times were desperate. People were starving. Had Joseph chosen to remain bitter and revengeful, he could have TUB’ed (Thrown Under the Bus) his entire family. But he didn’t. He forgave them. He gave them a mulligan, a “do-over.”

What about your family situation? Would a mulligan help the situation and give your family a new start?
