The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” Judges 6:14 (NIV)
Like few other professions, the military frequently thrusts leaders into situations beyond anything they have previously experienced.
If this happens to you, how will you handle it?
The story of Gideon provides a good history lesson. The Israelites have once again fallen into sin. God punishes them by sending the powerful Midianites to force Israel to turn back to God.
Though it was a dark time for Israel, God chooses Gideon to lead Israel to victory over the Midianites and back to Him. Understandably, Gideon has many doubts. The Midianite army was vast, ferocious, and determined to destroy Israel. An angel appears to Gideon and says, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12).
Gideon raises doubts and objections to the angel, but in the end, he chooses to obey God. As the result, Gideon’s leadership guides Israel to a resounding victory. Read the entire story in Judges 6 and 7.
Don’t wait for a crisis. Trust God today, mighty warrior!
