The history of warfare includes numerous incidents where the deceptive tactics of the enemy cost the lives of American warriors.
In June of 2017, three US soldiers were killed and another wounded during a joint US-Afghan military operation in Nangarhar province. One of the dominant insurgent groups immediately claimed responsibility. Posing as friendly to the US, foreign forces suddenly turned and killed our warriors.
Spiritual warfare is no different. In the context of our verse, the Apostle Paul is talking about false teachers who are worming their way in and misleading many. He goes on to say that even the Devil utilizes these tactics.
These techniques by the enemy persist today. Perhaps the most effective one is perpetrating the myth that the Devil wears a red suit and carries a pitch fork. With images like that, it’s hard to take Satan seriously.
Another effective approach by the Enemy is happening on our college campuses. Across America, students are taught that human intelligence can solve all the world’s problems. The subliminal message is that we don’t need God.
Obviously that’s not working. Don’t be fooled by counterfeits!
