So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 (NIV)
We have been created in God’s image. What does this mean for us as leaders regarding how we treat people?
Paul said of Jesus, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (Colossians 1:15). This is further supported by Jesus’ own words to his disciples: “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).
If Jesus is the image of the invisible God, we have a significant head start in knowing how we are to lead. We are to lead like Jesus. Two quick thoughts come to mind:
- Jesus treated everyone with dignity and respect, even those who were marginalized by the rest of society.
- Jesus didn’t show favoritism in his dealings with people.
Question: As a leader, do you treat your warriors with dignity and respect? If not, why not?
