The Devil is armed, dangerous, and on the prowl to destroy humanity any way he can. A brief glance at current events confirms this. In this verse Jesus clearly lays out Satan’s objectives.
As Christians, we need to wake up. I remember my days as an infantry platoon leader in Viet Nam. One of our greatest challenges was remaining vigilant during the hours of darkness. The enemy knew that and capitalized at every opportunity.
The most dangerous time was between 0300 and 0600 hours. After working long, hot days during combat operations, staying alert required extreme discipline. For that reason, I always pulled my guard shift during that period.
What motivated me? Two things. As the leader, I was responsible for the lives of my men. Secondly, I knew that a moment of neglect could cost our lives.
Spiritual warfare is more dangerous. “Why?” you may ask. Because the stakes are for eternity. The Devil is doomed to hell, but before he goes he wants to take as many as possible with him.
