But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same. Matthew 26:35 (NIV)

Can you recall ever boasting how you will react in a tough situation- and then failed? You caved under the pressure.

This is precisely the situation here. During the Last Supper Jesus tells the disciples that on that very night, all of the disciples will fall away on account of Him. But Peter vehemently denies this will happen to him.

Peter’s boast proved to be empty. When challenged on three separate occasions, Peter denied knowing Jesus.

It would be prideful to think that we would have done any differently, but we can learn from Peter’s mistake. As leaders we will face tough circumstances- situations so hard that we can’t do the right thing without God’s power working in us.

We don’t have to look to the future with fear, but rather with faith. Satan tells you, “You’re toast! You are going to fail!”

But God says the opposite:
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26, NIV).
