But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take eight months of a man’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”
Mark 6:37 (NIV)
Jesus knows all about us-everything.
In this story, Jesus and his disciples needed to feed a huge crowd-5000 men plus women and children. But they had no food. The disciples told Jesus they simply didn’t have the necessary resources.
Jesus showed wisdom. Instead of giving in to their helplessness, he chose to make the disciples part of the solution. The account appears in Mark 6:32-44.
He told his disciples to organize the crowd into groups of fifty and hundred. Then Jesus prayed. A miracle! All ate and were satisfied. Twelve baskets of food were left over.
Smart leaders get buy-in to solve problems by putting their warriors to work. The mission gets accomplished. Your people feel useful and the team gets stronger.
The next time you face a significant challenge, put your team to work. But don’t leave the Lord off the team. He is the big difference-maker!
