If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king.
Daniel 3:17 (NIV)
How well do you know and trust your God?
In about 569 BC, an incident occurred in Babylon that demonstrates what knowing God is really about. Three Hebrew teenagers stood before the most powerful ruler on the planet and defied his order to bow down and worship a statue.
Their refusal had immediate consequences. They were hurled into a blazing furnace. But then a miracle occurred. Not only did these young men survive, they were not even harmed. God has rescued them.
The miracle is inspiring. We love to hear stories like this. But the more important point is that these teenagers didn’t know for certain that God would save them. They only knew that their God was all powerful and was able to rescue them if He chose to. No matter the outcome, they decided to put their trust in Him.
Do you see the difference?
Read Daniel 3. You’ll learn the profound impact their courage had on the Babylonian ruler- and many others.
