If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NIV)
Leaders, good or bad, want truth from their subordinates. Our Creator commands us to be truthful toward Him.
Throughout the Bible, God makes it plain that we have sinned. But God loves us so much that He has provided His Son, Jesus, as the sacrifice for our sins. Jesus’ work at the Cross will purify us from all unrighteousness- if we confess and believe.
In 1973 a Baptist minister named Ralph Holt asked me if I had accepted Jesus as my Savior. I was clueless until he explained why I needed to be saved. For me, realizing I was a sinner only required that I reflect on my life for a few moments. I knew I had sinned- countless times.
Once I understood my spiritual condition, confessing was easy, especially knowing that Jesus would forgive me and cleanse me.
My decision to confess my sins to God and accept Jesus as my Savior changed the course of my life forever.
Jesus can do the same for you!
