Statistics tell us that 85% of people who become Christians do it by age 18. But there are exceptions- plenty of them.
I’ll call him Master Sergeant Green, Operations Sergeant for an airborne battalion within the 82nd Airborne Division that I served with in the middle 1970’s. Tough, experienced, but mean and ornery as a rattlesnake. Much of his day was spent harassing, complaining, and cussing.
Years later I came back to the 82d as a chaplain. I heard that MSG Green had changed radically. He had become a Christian. I invited him to speak at a prayer breakfast for our unit.
I could hardly recognize him as the same man. He smiled constantly and manifested a humble, joyful countenance. So opposite of the man I had known earlier.
So why the change? Like the tax collector in Luke 10, MSG Green invited Jesus into his heart. He confessed his sin and now lived to please God and love others.
God can change any heart- yours included! Won’t you invite Jesus into your heart?
