“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Luke 12:48b (NIV)
In many respects, the military subscribes to the principle set forth in this verse. More is expected from a non-commissioned officer or commissioned officer than is required from a recruit who has just completed basic training.
But let’s take this to another level. Christian warriors answer to their Heavenly Commander. To the measure that He has gifted you with talents and abilities, He requires that you serve Him to the very best of your capability- in your personal life, at home, at work, and in whatever circumstance you find yourself.
Consider three good reasons why doing your best with what you have is so important:
- God gave His best for you. He sent Jesus to die for your sins. Your decision to accept God’s free gift guarantees eternal life for you.
- As a leader, the most effective influence you can have comes through modeling what right looks like. Your character matters to your subordinates.
- Your good example brings glory and honor to God.
