When I tried to understand all this, it was oppressive to me till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. Psalm 73:16-17 (NIV)
Have you ever found yourself thinking, “Why am I trying to live righteously? Evil and wicked people around me seem to be thriving and having all the fun.”
- Not reporting income to the IRS
- Living a party life
- Running around on your spouse
- Living for pleasure
- Skipping church
When the psalmist wrote these verses, he was wondering the same kinds of things. Most of us think like this occasionally.
The psalmist acted wisely. He went to the sanctuary and talked with God. The answers came quickly and gave him 20/20 spiritual vision. He suddenly saw the fate of the wicked.
Those who reject God are doomed. They are foolish to ever think God doesn’t see everything they do. He knows their prideful and arrogant thoughts. Unless they turn and repent, they will be swept away as by flood waters.
Fellow Christian, I encourage you to remember that God is good and that the blessings he holds in store for those who serve Him are beyond numbering.
