When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith” (Matthew 8:10).

Can a person serve God and still be in the military? Perhaps you’ve asked yourself the same question. The answer ultimately rests between you and the Lord.

It must be noted, however, that of all the people Jesus could have commended for having great faith, He singles out a centurion. That’s right- a Roman soldier! Read it for yourself in Matthew 8:5-13. In today’s jargon, maybe Jesus said this to the centurion: “Hooah!”

God knows and understands the realities of military life. He is looking for soldiers who are willing to work hard and to place their faith in Him.

If the centurion can please the Lord with his faith, is there any reason why you can’t?
