Cain and Abel were the first children born to Adam and Eve. The parent’s rebellion toward God would quickly manifest itself in Cain’s life. Read the account in Genesis 4:1-14.
Once Cain realized that his sacrifice to the Lord was unacceptable, his anger took a tragic turn. He killed his brother.
While the passage doesn’t specify why God was not pleased with Cain’s sacrifice, we can be certain that Cain knew enough to be accountable.
Submitting to God’s authority is paramount. Cain’s rebellion toward God’s warning proved that Cain’s attitude toward God stunk.
There are times when we may not understand our Heavenly Commander’s ways. Scripture tells us that His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9).
So whose ways do we honor- His or ours? The more we follow the Lord’s ways, the more wisdom we gain and the faster we mature.
Be certain of this: God knows more than we do. Follow His ways!
