“But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” Genesis 2:17 (NIV)
Can you imagine a military organization operating successfully if the warriors don’t know who is in charge? When this occurs, the results are not pretty.
This principle applies for leaders as well. Leaders are called to lead others, but also to fall under someone else’s authority.
But what authority? Whom do we follow? Going back to Adam and Eve, the intent of our Creator was to follow Him. This verse records God’s first command to mankind: “Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
Did they obey? No, they didn’t. Mankind has been messed up ever since.
Fast forward to the 21st Century. Have we learned anything? As a leader, do you know whom to follow and obey?
The Bible tells us that God is our Creator. He created the universe and He made you. His design is that you follow Him. He knows you, cares about you, and will guide you toward becoming the person He created you to be.
Won’t you follow Him?
