For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
As a young Infantry platoon leader in Vietnam, I recall my Battalion Commander insisting that my platoon haul around a 4.2” mortar with ammunition.
This mortar is a great weapon, but we were cutting our way through thick jungle. The overhanging foliage would have made shooting the mortar almost impossible. Wrong weapon for that situation.
A similar principle applies in spiritual warfare. The Apostle Paul is reminding us that we are engaged against spiritual powers of wickedness. Physical weapons won’t work.
So often in our daily battles we face we try to employ natural weapons against a spiritual enemy. It never works.
You have access to spiritual weapons that have divine power to defeat strongholds and any effort Satan may make to defeat you. Two of the most powerful are God’s Word and prayer.
But you must use them. They work!
