A house without a solid foundation simply won’t stand. Everything from the ground up depends on how well that first construction step is completed.
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great,” (Luke 6:46-49, NKJV).
Warriors discover a similar truth with their training. If foundational training is performed correctly, experience gained during deployment will build up a soldier. But the warrior who fails to utilize training opportunities at the front end of his or her military career is likely to wash out at some later point of crisis.
Jesus wants us to examine the spiritual foundation of our lives. When people ignore God, life may seem fine for a while, but when tragedy strikes they’re shaken to the core of their identity. Jesus is the only solid foundation.
Are you building your life on Him and obedience to His Word? With that foundation in place, you will be equipped to face whatever challenges life brings your way.
If you are dealing with this issue, you do not need to face the challenge alone. Jesus has conquered every challenge so you can move from your present situation to a life of overcoming hope. Invite him to lead you in your journey. He will forgive, comfort, and heal you.
