If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. (Psalm 130:3)
As long as the military remains a relatively small, volunteer force, competition for promotion grows tougher. Some feel that the military is moving toward a “zero defects” mentality. Results of recent selection boards for promotion, leadership billets, and schooling reflect that many quality people are not making the cut. Often the difference between selection and non-selection is a minor glitch in the individual’s personnel record.
Fortunately, our Heavenly Commander has a different personnel system. Our mistakes — and we all make them — are tossed out of our Spiritual Personnel File by the Commander Himself when we ask and receive forgiveness. Even though God promises forgiveness, some people struggle with forgiving themselves. A few think this is being humble. But it’s not. It’s actually running counter to God’s commands. Failure to forgive yourself has no positive outcomes.
Are you burdened by the weight of your sins? Don’t delay! Confess your sins to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness. He will set you free!
