Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. (Phil 1:12)
Have you noticed that the really difficult times in your life have turned out to be beneficial? God knows this, even while we are still going through these times. He allows these experiences because He knows there will be future benefits- for you, and maybe for others.
Paul was in a Roman jail, even though he had committed no crime. But he soon realized that his suffering also brought opportunity. He was now able to share his faith in the most powerful city in the world.
A good friend of mine, a military chaplain, was suffering from PTSD a few years ago. He showed the courage to tell his chain of command. The news was not well received. The military discharged him a number of months later for health reasons. But guess what? His boldness paved the way for others suffering from PTSD. The military has since made great strides in treating this disorder. And my friend? He’s doing valuable ministry and helping many.
God never wastes an experience!
