Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6 (NIV)
Psalm 23 is one of the most read passages in the entire Bible. The writer, David, in just a few words tells us what he thinks and believes about God- His character, His provision, His guidance, His restoration, His protection, His mercy, and His presence.
David’s final statement looks to the time when he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. David had one eye on his present life, but the other eye was focused on eternity. He longed for the day when he could leave the cares of this world and go to be with his Father in heaven.
How about you? What are your priorities? Yes, take care to exercise your duties in this present life, but don’t forget about life beyond the grave. All of us will leave this life one day and go out into eternity.
Like David, do you realize that eternity in the presence of the Lord is as good as it gets?
