Dear Heavenly Father,
Too often I’ve succumbed to selfish impulses that have driven me on the rocks of despair. That which I’ve seen as good, attractive, and beneficial have betrayed my walk with you. I’ve often settled for those things that I want, rather than those things that you command. Give me an added measure of wisdom, to understand my attitudes, and to recognize my willingness to compromise your standards for my desires. Let that wisdom be the gold standard for my decision-making process. Give me a long-term view of living a redemptive life, rather than seeking short-term gratification.
Then as I spiritually mature, often with making hard sacrificial choices, let others witness my integrity and want what I have. Let observers be attracted to the moral purity they see in me. Let my life speak volumes about you. Let your character be revealed in me, so the world can have hope in radical honesty, without fear of ridicule. Help me make the hard choices of holiness, so others can have courage to duplicate your character, and enhance their world. I pray this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
