“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42 (NIV)
Funerals and memorial services mark times of great loss and sadness, but they also provide opportunities to consider the legacies of those who have passed.
Questions to consider: What do you want your legacy to be? What impact do you want to make? Your story is still being written by how you choose to live your life, especially at key decision points.
Jesus, the greatest leader who ever lived, was facing the most crucial decision He would ever make- whether or not to go to the Cross for all people. This verse clearly demonstrates that in His humanness, Jesus would have chosen another way, a path not requiring torturous suffering and death by way of crucifixion.
Jesus knew his mission, though. He chose to do His Father’s will-He had to die to redeem sinful man.
Your Creator has a plan for you. Will it be one of obedience to God or of doing what you want?
