Which Way Are You Going?

There are only two paths to take in life. Your way or God’s way! Whichever way you happen to be traveling today is one of these two.

What you believe about your way could mean almost anything. For example, if you don’t believe there is a God, you have chosen a way to approach your life based upon that belief. It is a good idea to ask yourself a couple of questions. Why do I believe that, and what do I base that belief upon?

Almighty God did not leave us without a very clear direction about who He is, and what path He desires for us to follow. What you believe about God’s way can only be based upon His Word. There are many clear and simple passages in the Bible that reveal the way of God. When a person strays from the way of God they are taking the other way; theirs. Let us look at just two Scripture verses that will show a very clear picture of these two ways.

The first is found in Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, leads to death.” Now, this passage is not talking about a natural death, it is talking about a spiritual death. You see, you may be going about your life in a way that seems right to you, but is it? Is your way leading you to life or death? (Remember we are talking about spiritual life here, not just a natural existence).

Now let us contrast what Jesus said about God’s way. In John 14:6 Jesus said this, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Do you see the difference friend? Your way, no matter how true it may seem, is just your idea or opinion of a way to live your life. I hope you can see that the way of man leads away from God and ends in death for eternity.

However, a life following Jesus not only directs us in the way of life here on earth, but also leads us into absolute truth; a life with Him eternally in heaven. When a man, woman, or child places their faith in God’s way, (a belief upon His son Jesus’ death on the cross for their sins, and His resurrection from the dead) that person comes alive spiritually. That is Good News my friend!

There is one who stands in the way of this Good News and absolute truth. Perhaps you have not even thought much about this or ever heard about this before. You and I have an enemy who is very slick. He is known as the father of lies; his name is Satan. His name means, contrary, adversary, enemy and accuser. I hope you pay close attention to this, because it is eternally important.

In one verse Jesus gives another clear contrast of this eternal choice. “In John 10:10 Jesus said this, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Do you see the contrast? Satan is a thief, a killer, and a destroyer! He would lead you to believe that your way is the right way and would somehow save you.

However, as I stated earlier, Jesus is the ONLY way. Jesus not only gives life, but He will give you life to the full. Again, that is Good News friend! There is no deep mystery here in these few Bible passages. It is very plain and simple. There are two ways to approach life, your way or God’s way.

Which way are you going friend? I hope you choose God’s way because His way will lead you to life now and forever more. I leave you with two more Bible passages which I hope will help you in your decision to trust God and His way. Consider these verses and ask God to reveal Himself to you. The first is found in Isaiah 53:6a “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way;” The second is found in 2 Samuel 22:31, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless, He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.”

I pray God blesses and leads you in the way of life everlasting. Receive His perfect peace! Blessings my friend.
