Be A Giver

The joyful giving of our finances accomplishes many things: 1) Learning to give to the work of God helps us avoid the pitfalls of greed; 2) Giving creates a way for us to express thanks to God for what He provides; 3) We can be used by God to help meet others’ needs; and 4) Our generosity gives others reason to praise God for our faithfulness and obedience.

“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35, NKJV).

Federal funding provides military chapels with all the necessary utilities at no cost to the service member. This frees chaplains from heavy budget concerns and frees the Christian serving in the military to help others in our community. As you look for ways to give to other ministries or to chapel programs (military youth ministries, men of the chapel, and women of the chapel, for example) you will enjoy the benefits just outlined.

Ask God to show you a chapel program, another military member, a military family, a DOD civilian, a volunteer or someone in need who can benefit from your financial act of worship. God has blessed you with finances so that you can serve as His helping hands. Remember, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
