All Christians on the planet have this in common: the Lord wants us to grow spiritually. This particular verse encourages every Christian to grow in grace and knowledge. We can know this, but actually taking steps forward can be difficult. One effective way to do this is through journaling. “Spiritual growth journaling” is an act of worship in which you record and review your thoughts, prayers, life changes, and/or challenges. Write about what is on your heart.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18, NKJV).

As you journal, remember you are having a conversation with your loving Father. If you have trouble concentrating during prayer, writing your prayers can help you focus. There’s plenty of room for creativity in this process. You can abbreviate, highlight (write down one word and then silently pray about that), or elaborate. The options are limitless, but all can be very valuable. Why don’t give it a try?

P.S. You will find it both valuable and rewarding to review your journal from time to time. It can serve as a great way to help you see your relationship with God grow and to get a better picture of how the Lord has worked in your life—even when you didn’t know it!
