The old saying that “misery loves company’ does contain some truth. When we are under great stress or trial, it’s comforting to know that others are facing or have experienced similar pressures. Simply knowing that we’re not the only ones going through tough times helps maintain perspective.

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Corinthians 10:13, NKJV).

Perspective involves seeing the big picture and not allowing specific details of our lives to warp our view. I like this humorous saying about perspective: ‘there’s only one thing worse than a flooded basement and that’s a flooded attic.’ Does it feel like the attic of your life is flooded? Are you experiencing hard times- relationally, emotionally, financially, spiritually, or in some other way? Take heart, my friend. This scripture reminds us that God knows your situation.

Others have gone through similar situations. It’s not hopeless. He helped others. He will make a way for you to make it!

You don’t need to face this challenge alone. Jesus has conquered this challenge so that you can move from your present situation to a life of overcoming. Invite him to lead you in your journey. He will forgive, comfort, and heal you.
