As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)
The Scriptures say a lot about faith and family. They even provide many examples of biblical personalities living out marriages and family life. Some were good, some bad. Bottom line: There is no lack of information from the Bible telling us how to conduct our marriage relationships, raise our kids, and lead our families. Research into these passages shows us something important to consider.
God doesn’t think like we do. His ways are often not our ways. His thoughts are higher. His ways are better. Therefore, we must choose. Do we conduct our lives according to God’s Word or according to what the world says? Sounds simple, doesn’t it? But it’s not. Nor is it easy. Following God’s ways frequently runs counter to most of the patterns we see in modern culture.
Bluntly stated, a Christian marriage and family will differ in many respects from what those around us are doing. It’s possible, and even likely, that those around you will think you’re old-fashioned, or just plain weird. The choice is yours. Choose wisely!
