Dear Heavenly Father,
Please help me so anger does not rule my attitude. Give me clarity of mind and a purposeful heart to explore my motives, letting me know myself at a deeper level. Help me to: “Keep your [my] heart with all vigilance”, (Prov. 4:23). Give me a desire to discover why anger percolates within my heart, then give me the courage to admit its presence, and then to engage in evacuating it from my life. Give me a peace that passes all understanding: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus,” (Phil. 4:7).
Then, Lord let my new freedom be recognized by my family, my friends, my co-workers, in fact the entire orbit of my acquaintances. Let them see the glory of the peace of God, so they desire what you have placed in my life. Cleanse me in a way that lasts, that is not faddish, but a reality. Let me be authentic, not pretending a new beginning, but rather accountable to faithful, mature believers who can walk the walk with me. Give me courage to ask others to keep me responsible for my behaviors, regularly asking if my attitude is genuine. Give me a heart that is honest, willing to be challenged and corrected. I do all this for your glory Lord. I pray this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
