Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word says: “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God…” (Eph. 4:30). Often, Father I’ve pursued passions assuring myself that I will hurt no one. Ignorantly, I’ve caused you pain by my selfishness. There is no way for my thoughts and actions to be morally neutral – they are full of high potency toxins, and they affect you. I never want to hurt you again! Please, help me order my mind to first honor you, with righteous thoughts and behavior, then to sacrifice for others, in behaving in selfless ways. Assist me, to let my motivation be for a pure heart, and noble character. Help me stop anything that hurts you. my family, my brothers, or my acquaintances. Do not let my desires rule my heart.
Then, Lord be my satisfaction. “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Ps. 16:11). Please fill my mind and life with super satisfaction in you. Let nothing surpass your worth in my life. Then let that leak out in my behavior, so others will notice, others will want what I experience in you. Let my wife, my family, my friends, and my community want you because they see me, fully delighted in you. Give me the courage to say no to destructive passions, then saying yes to honoring you. Never let me be satisfied in rewarding myself with depraved thoughts or behaviors that do not honor you. I pray this, in Jesus’ high and holy name, Amen.
