Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for always loving me like a son. You never forsake me, forget me, nor turn from me: “I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you” (Josh 1:5). Even when I’ve morally fallen, when I have been self-absorbed and self-focused, you have not abandoned me: “behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). Thank you for your abundant faithfulness, willingness to receive me back to yourself, and willingness to pour blessings on me, for your glory. Thank you that in my darkest times, you willingly avail yourself to me, even at times when I couldn’t find my way up, or out.
Because you are so good, I’m asking that you grant even richer mercies to me, so others can see you in me. Even though I’ve failed, you are willing to reconfigure me, restore me, then use me as a fit vessel for fine use. I’m not damaged goods, I’m refined to be a work of art that represents you: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Eph. 2:10). I want people to see you when they see me. I am your ambassador, you’ve elevated me to a position of prestige, to speak on behalf of the King of Glory: “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us” (2 Cor. 5:20). I pray these requests in the name of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, Amen.
