Jesus’ life was demanding, but He never seemed too busy.

How did He manage it? First, Jesus always made time for solitude and prayer, resting and gaining wisdom and perspective from His Father. Second, Jesus never became a slave to others’ expectations. His disciples told Him, “Everyone is looking for you.” Jesus needed to go back and meet people’s needs, which He did—but only after he spent time alone with his Father.

Jesus never became a slave to others’ expectations

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, ‘Everyone is looking for you’” (Mark 1:35-37, NKJV).

Do you take time to be alone—to rest, reflect, pray, and gain perspective? When others try to control you, do you stick with your priorities, or let guilt and the desire to please others take over? Excessive busyness is not your friend. The Lord will help you find the right balance.
