Airplanes are not meant to crash, so when a plane does crash, an investigation is needed to determine the chain of events that caused it. Similarly, Christians can also “crash” morally due to sexual temptation, dependence upon alcohol, a gambling addiction, and a host of other reasons. The crash usually isn’t as sudden as might appear. A pattern of wrong decisions and behavior set the downhill course, and the results are usually not pleasant. Pain is normally a by-product along with degrees of destruction: reputation, relationships, health, etc.

“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace” (Romans 6:11-14, NKJV).

Most crashes are avoidable. It is much better to do a pre-flight inspection so that the take-off, flight, and landing all go according to the plan God has for your life. Let God help you!
