This Psalm continues with a recount of what God did for the Israelites.
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
Psalm 105:1–6
How He remembered them from Abraham through to the promised land. It’s a psalm of praise and thanksgiving for what God did for them and how He coordinated events in history for His chosen people.
Moving
Preparing to move to a new place, I often get caught up in all the things I need to do before we go. My hopes and prayers for what our time there will be like. Those aren’t bad things, but what I’m forgetting is to take the time to look back on the time spent where we are and where we’ve been.
It is so good to look back on what God has done in the place we are leaving. To see how He has changed our family and me. To remember the ways He has stirred our faith and refined our character. And to see His fingerprints on the details of who we met, what we did.
I can then praise Him for who He is in the midst of all circumstances and thank Him for all He has done there. It is faith inspiring!
When I look back at all He has done, I can move forward confidently, remembering He is good and faithful. Trusting that He is sovereign over the details, whether they work out as I hope or not.
Respond
What has God done for you where you are or at a previous assignment? How have you seen His character? How has He changed you? Allow that to inspire your faith, to trust Him for where you are now and where you go next.
Prayer
Lord, you are sovereign over the details of our lives, working all things for our good and your glory. You are good, faithful, and trustworthy. Forgive us for the times we doubt your goodness or try to trust in ourselves for the details. Thank you that you love us so much you sent Jesus for us! Help us to remember the greatness of that love and all you have done for us. Inspire our faith to trust you in the details of our lives and moving. Amen.
