Nowhere in the Bible will you read that serving the Lord is easy. In fact, just the opposite is true. We are told we will have very difficult situations to deal with because of our faith. Just like food is necessary for physical development, trials are necessary for proper faith development. Our loving Father allows these trials to test our faith, all the while wanting to comfort us through these tests. He makes His consolation available through His Word, His divine presence, and other believers.
“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work” (2 Thessalonians 2:16–17, NKJV).
Are you hurting? Pray that the Lord would comfort and establish you for every good work. Do you know someone who is experiencing the worst trial of his or her life? Pray that the Lord would use you to comfort him or her in the same way that Christ has comforted you.
