Warriors often face tough times. It is not unusual to feel hurt, broken and lonely.

As you read the following scripture, does your heart ache to be home with loved ones? Has the loss of a fellow warrior broken your heart?

“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit,” (Psalm 34:18, NKJV).

This verse offers several points of comfort. First, God understands human emotions. He does not condemn the broken-hearted. When you are sorrowful or disappointed that you cannot be stronger, God is not taken by surprise . Rather, God draws near to those who have a broken heart. His great desire is to offer comfort, reassurance and hope for the future.

With God, you are never alone. Your heart can mend and you can experience renewed joy.

Second, God is ready to bring healing to your emotions even when your own mistakes are the cause of your sorrow. The second part of this verse speaks of a contrite, or repentant, heart. You may believe you have turned your life onto a path of pain and sorrow from which you can never recover. That simply is not true. God is able to save you, not just from the eternal consequences of sin, but also from the day-to-day costs of your mistakes.

God will never leave you alone. He gave His Holy Spirit to live within you. Sometimes in your pain, it is difficult to feel that God is near. But He is always with you. God never quits on you. Trust in His presence and His power working in you. With God, you are never alone. Your heart can mend and you can experience renewed joy.
