Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (John 6:8,9)
Picture the scene. Jesus and the disciples have been ministering to thousands of people. They’re tired and need rest. Only one problem. A crowd of 8,000 to 10,000 people is hungry and unable to feed themselves. They look to Jesus and the disciples to help.
The disciples weren’t much help. They simply told Jesus the task was impossible. Andrew announced that a boy standing nearby was willing to donate five loaves and two fish to the cause.
Jesus told the disciples to seat the people. He took the five loaves and two fish, said a prayer, and ordered the disciples to distribute the food to the crowd. It was a miracle! The people had plenty to eat, and there was even food left over. Jesus multiplied the efforts of a young boy who was willing to help others.
Do you wonder what Jesus would do with your efforts to help others? There is only one way to find out. Step out and serve.
