When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10:47)
Life can get hard at times- so hard that you feel like quitting. Don’t! God has things for you to do.
Bartimaeus undoubtedly experienced many days when he felt like giving up. After all, he was a beggar and he was blind. A good day for him was receiving enough coins into his cup to buy food for he day. Life for him seemed hopeless- begging, eating, and sleeping. Hopelessness changed to hope the day Bartimaeus met Jesus. As Jesus was walking past him, Bartimaeus shouted at the top of his lungs: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Despite Jesus’ disciples trying to quiet him, Bartimaeus would not quit shouting. Jesus heard him and called for him. Jesus performed a miracle that day by restoring Bartimaeus’ sight. Bartimaeus would never be the same. He had been touched by the Master.
