For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.  (2 Corinthians 11:13,14)

With strong language the apostle Paul tells Christians in Corinth that there are false apostles in their midst. He describes them as deceitful men who masquerade as though Christ sent them.

Are there false apostles in the world today? Definitely, and here’s one example. Some teachers and preachers would have you think that living the Christian life, if done correctly, leads to jumping from one mountaintop to the next. No down times. No sickness. No financial hardships. No depression. No suffering.

Think about this. Do you know anyone who lives like this? I don’t. Being a follower of Jesus does not insulate us from hard times. But how can we discern the truth and know which people are pedaling a false gospel? We have God’s truth — the Holy Bible. We should read it, study it, and obey it. We should also make certain the preaching and teaching we hear lines up with God’s Word. If it doesn’t, it’s false teaching. We don’t need to be deceived.

Follow Christ and His Word.
