Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
After Moses died, God appointed Joshua to lead the people of Israel through many battles before they could fully claim the land God had promised. For over two decades, Joshua and the Israelites remained at war with neighboring tribes and nations. In a few battles, they tasted defeat and discouragement. But they never gave up. With the Lord’s help, Joshua and the people of Israel prevailed.
Some people today seem to miss two important truths. First, in this life we will face numerous battles we cannot win in our own strength. These battles go beyond the physical battlefield. They include personal struggles in areas like self-worth, communication in marriage, finances, and relationships with children. Second, God’s presence is not limited to the pages of the Old Testament. He stands ready today to help you with the battles you face — even today.
Your life can be one of victory. Are you allowing the Lord to help you win the battles you face?
