On the modern battlefield, commanders employ many intelligence-gathering systems to gain “ground truth.” They need accurate information with which to make sound tactical decisions. Good decisions save lives. Spiritually speaking, knowing the truth is even more crucial. Why? The only part of life that crosses the threshold between this world and the next is the human soul. Eternity is a long time. Where you spend it hinges on knowing the truth.
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place” (Ephesians 6:14, NKJV).
In the information age in which we live, some would argue that there is no such thing as absolute truth. One reason they make this claim is they don’t want to be accountable. If there is no such thing as absolute truth, then they are free to choose their own version of truth. But God didn’t design life this way. God is truth and his Word is truth. Truth about God and life can be known. Read his Word! Spiritually speaking, are you standing firm with the belt of truth buckled around your waist? The stakes are too high to do otherwise.
