Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.” (2 Kings 19:20)

Around 700 B.C., a desperate king named Hezekiah prayed. His tiny nation of Judah was about to be overrun by the armies of Sennacherib, ruler of Assyria. No odds maker in Las Vegas would have given Judah the remotest chance of surviving. But Hezekiah prayed. The Lord heard Hezekiah’s prayer and sent the prophet Isaiah to deliver the answer. “I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib.” He went on to say that the Assyrian army would not shoot a single arrow before they would be chased back to where they had came from. That night, an angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in their own camp. The next morning, the remainder of the Assyrian army executed a hasty retreat back home. The army of Judah didn’t have to lift a finger. The Lord had won the battle for Judah.

We all face our own battles, and many exceed our own capabilities to handle. Like Hezekiah, we can pray.
