Claim His Promises

The Bible claims that God can do anything. Do you keep that perspective as you live your life? Abraham did. This verse makes reference to the time when God commanded this patriarch to sacrifice his son. A little background helps here. Barren all of her adult life, Abraham’s wife, Sarah, was told by the Lord that she would have a son at nearly one hundred years of age. God kept his promise and Sarah delivered Isaac.

“Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death” (Hebrews 11:19, NKJV).

When Isaac became a teenager, God gave this seemingly strange order to sacrifice him. You don’t even have to be a parent to imagine how hard this must have been for Abraham and Sarah-off the chart. But look what happened. Abraham obeyed. He remembered God’s promise to make him the father of many nations. Verse 19 tells us that “Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.” Going through hard times — maybe the toughest you’ve ever faced? Claim God’s promises. He delivers.
