“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Ephesians 5:21, NIV)
Many on-line dating services claim the ability to help people find the ‘perfect’ marriage partner.
But let’s inject some sacred realism into this equation. There are no perfect people, and therefore, no perfect marriage partners. Should this fact be a stumbling block to finding the right partner? Absolutely not! Whether already married or looking for a spouse, “being” the right person is more important than “finding” the right person. Does this mean we don’t look for good qualities in a mate or pay attention to the compatibility factors so critical for a marriage? Not at all. Being the right person is a process.
All along the way it means submitting to God and to your mate in order to become the marriage partner you were meant to be. Submission is key to this process and it’s hard. It’s not easy to submit to another human being who is flawed and imperfect — just like you are. Do you believe God can make good on His promises in your life? Claim His promises and exercise your faith. God will not let you down.
