And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:18)
According to Army doctrine, “battle focus” is a concept used to derive peacetime training requirements from wartime missions. Given the growing resource constraints being imposed on the military community, leaders must focus on training those tasks that are critical for the unit’s mission in wartime. There just isn’t the time and money for everything.
Battle focus is essential in the Christian life as well. With the fast pace that most of us keep, it is critical that we train on those tasks essential for our spiritual wartime mission. Our Heavenly Commander has identified prayer as a cornerstone of spiritual warfare doctrine. Every soldier in the Lord’s army must train in prayer. It is a spiritual weapon so powerful that the enemy goes all out to stop it. Prayer demolishes enemy strongholds.
Life is hard. Stay battle-focused. Pray hard and pray often.
