Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)
The U.S. military has the mission of winning this nation’s wars. All branches of our military need warriors who are winners in life. Integral to being a winner is maintaining a positive, winning attitude. This means we have to control what we think about. So how do we maintain control over our thoughts and keep a winning attitude? The Lords exhorts us to think about things that are true, noble, lovely, admirable, and so forth.
Keeping a healthy mind and positive attitude is much like maintaining a strong body. There are many choices in the foods we eat. If we eat foods that are high in calories, high in fat, and low in food value, our bodies will suffer. It works the same with our minds. So, warrior, what kinds of things occupy your mind? Are they true, noble, admirable? If not, toss the bad stuff and start thinking good stuff. Isn’t it about time that you took charge of your thoughts?
