Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — of whom I am the worst. (1 Timothy 1:15)

Most soldiers know the truth when they hear it. In this verse the apostle Paul tells Timothy the most profound truth any person could ever hear. He tells it in two parts — bad news and good news.

The bad news: Paul says there are sinners in the world, and he is the worst. In fact, the Bible tells us that all of us are sinners and fall short of God’s glory. Within the entire human race, there is not one exception — not one.

The good news: The bad news is not hopeless. Jesus Christ came to save sinners, even Paul. The blood of Jesus covers every sin, yours included!

Two major misunderstandings generally surface about this bad news and good news. First, some think they are not sinners. Bad mistake! Second, others think they have done too many bad things and can’t be forgiven. This is also not true.

But what have you done with this truth — both the bad and the good? Have you trusted Christ as your personal Savior?
