In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:17)

For leadership to be effective, it must be credible. Leaders must say what they mean and mean what they say. Leadership doesn’t end with the spoken word, however.

Soldiers look for their leaders’ actions to back up their words. If leaders fail in this essential task, their credibility goes down the tube.

One of the acid tests of credible leadership is leaders’ willingness to share the hardships that their soldiers face. Troops want to follow leaders who are willing to be with them during hard or dangerous times. In the same way, our walk with God must have faith with works.

If we claim to have great faith in God, how do those around us know if this is true? One way is how we use our time. Do we take time to serve others?

Another is our handling of money. Do we hoard it just for ourselves, or do we look for ways to help those in need?

If you want your faith to be credible, back it up with action!
